Project Overview
Dubai International Airport was constructed through a series of contracts and joint ventures with South African company Murray & Roberts.
The initial main contract was for the construction and fit-out of Sheikh Rashid Terminal and Concourse 1. It covered an area 800 metres long and 80 metres wide, with a total floor area of 125,000 square metres, including 9,000 square metres of duty free space and a 5-star 100 room hotel.
The contract included the installation of 28 gates with 42 passenger bridges. Subsequently, several additional construction packages were also awarded and carried out, several of which were undertaken while the airport was in operation
