BIC Contracting LLC (BICC) has been awarded a contract to construct Stage 1 infrastructure works for the Aljada Development Project, a high-end residential, commercial and retail community in the Emirate of Sharjah in the UAE.

The award, by ARADA Developments, will generate revenue of AED103 million to BICC. It is the first of a package of infrastructure valued at more than AED1 billion for the project.

BICC is 45% owned by CIMIC Group – an engineering-led construction, mining, services and public private partnerships leader working across the lifecycle of assets, infrastructure and resources projects.

The scope of work for the project includes networks and systems for roads, storm water, potable water, sewage, power, street lighting and telecommunications. Construction will commence in coming weeks and is due to be completed within one year.

HE Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of ARADA, said: “Infrastructure is the backbone of any successful real estate development, and as a result ARADA is very pleased to be working with BICC, a high-calibre company with a strong track record in this area. We are confident that they will execute this critical work to the very highest standards.”

Moustafa Fahour OAM, CEO and Managing Director of BICC, said: “This project is well suited to BICC’s expertise in delivering high-quality infrastructure for marquee projects across the Middle East. Aljada is a project that represents Sharjah’s future, and we’re proud to be working with ARADA to help bring this destination to life.”
